Mineola High School Cuts Ribbon on New Library Media Center
On Monday, March 21, the ribbon was officially cut on Mineola High School's new state-of-the-art library media center. As state standards become more rigorous, and the district develops a more challenging curriculum to meet those standards, students need better resources to fulfill their academic requirements. The new media center affords MHS students the advantages they need, with many of the resources of a modern college library.

Village Budget Down to 17 Percent Tax Increase
The Village of Mineola Board of Trustees has yet to pass a budget, and the mayor and board will be discussing ways to lessen the impact to the taxpayers. Since there are pressures on the budget that have caused the proposed budget to balloon to a 17 percent tax increase, ways to either boost revenues or cut expenses could still be considered. Deputy Mayor Larry Werther said he hopes to see the increase down to the single digits.

Mineola Mustang Marchers Perform at Disney
How did the Mineola High School Mustangs Marching Band and Rockettes celebrate the successful completion of a new benchmark season, during which they advanced to a higher competitive class? They went to Disney World! Adding a feather to their collective caps, the MHS marchers traveled down to sunny Orlando, where they became a part of that Disney magic.
