Mineola High School Among Nation's Best
The Mineola School District may have taken criticism in recent days for its high per pupil spending and test scores, which, on the surface, compare unfavorably with other area schools, but the district may have found something positive to build on. Mineola High School Principal Dr. Michael Nagler reported that Mineola High School should be among those designated as America's best on the Newsweek website.

The Mayor Martins Era Continues in Mineola
On Monday evening, April 4, the Village of Mineola held its annual organization night and it proved to be a night of standing ovations as the board welcomed back Mayor Jack M. Martins, Deputy Mayor Larry Werther and new trustee John DaVanzo, who was elected after last serving on the board 40 years ago. The board also bid farewell to Lou Santosus, who served 17 years on the board.

Mineola Mustangs Spring Sports Preview
The Mineola High School boys track and field team embarks on a rebuilding season under coaches Michael Santa Maria and Kristin Degnan. The Mustangs lost five All-County athletes to graduation, but coach Santa Maria said the initial turnout looks promising. "We hope to be among the top three teams in our division. We hope to send a few athletes to the state championships in Cicero, NY this season."
