School Board Adopts Budget
The special meeting of the Mineola Board of Education Thursday night was well attended as community members packed the cafeteria of the Willis Avenue School, where they witnessed the board adopt a proposed budget for the 2005-2006 school year. Before the vote, at the end of the evening, residents sat through a detailed budget presentation and then voiced concerns about the cuts being proposed, mostly concerning the cuts to teachers aides.

Village Board Must Overcome Budget Pressures
Now that the village election is over, it's time to get down to business and the Mineola Village Board of Trustees has a lot of work ahead of it. The village is in the process of putting together its 2005-2006 fiscal year budget. Mayor Jack M. Martins has scheduled budget meetings for Tuesday, April 5 at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 6 at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. and Friday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m. if needed at Mineola Village Hall. The board will be discussing the village budget in public.

Mineola Boys JV Lacrosse Team Earns First Victory
Despite losing their first two contests in closely fought games, the Mustangs showed no lack of determination or character when they came out to face an evenly matched Sewanhaka team. Led by sophomore captains Ian Stanisic, Israel Castro and Mike Roo, the team proved their heart and desire to win.
