North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Town Clerk Michelle Schimel are pleased to announce the honorees for the 2005 May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor. The women selected this year represent both public and personal contributions to the various communities throughout North Hempstead.
"Congratulations to all of this year's honorees," said Supervisor Kaiman. "I invite all the residents of North Hempstead to join us on March 23 as we honor their extraordinary achievements."
"The tradition of honoring the extraordinary women of North Hempstead continues with the 2005 honorees whose hard work and commitment have enriched our communities," said Town Clerk Michelle Schimel, the chairperson of the event.
The Women's Roll of Honor Breakfast will be held on Wednesday, March 23, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Clinton G. Martin Park in New Hyde Park. "This year's breakfast promises to be a wonderful celebration of history, community activism, and camaraderie," said Ms. Schimel, "just as May Newburger intended it to be when the Women's Roll of Honor was established in 1994."
Highlights of the 2005 breakfast will be a performance by the Great Neck North High School Junior Players and a poetry reading by Shirley Romaine.
