Adelphi University senior Katherine Hock of Mineola was one of 32 women named to the 2005 Tewaaraton Award Watch List.

Hock, along with Bridget Eder of Hofstra, was one of only two women named from a local school. In addition, 37 men were named to the list including Hofstra's Brett Moyer.

There are also many Long Island natives, including Virginia's Amy Appelt (Garden City) who will look to become the first two-time winner in the history of the trophy. The winners will be announced on June 2 at the National Geographic Society Headquarters in Washington, DC.

The men's selection committee includes Dick Edell of Maryland, Scott Anderson of Harvard, Tom Postel of C.W. Post, Erin Quinn of Middlebury College, Dom Starsia of Virginia and Dave Urick of Georgetown. The Women's Selection Committee is made up of Chris Sailer of Princeton, Michael Daly of Stonehill, Missy Foote of Middlebury College, Suzanne Isador of Penn State, Lisa Miller of Syracuse, Julie Myers of Virginia, Cathy Swezey of Vanderbilt and Jenny Graap of Cornell.

The Tewaarton Award honors the top male and female varsity collegiate lacrosse player in the United States.

Katherine, who is the daughter of Susan and James Hock, is a graduate of Mineola High School. She is Adelphi's all-time career leader in points (185) and goals (151) and holds the single season record in both categories.

At Mineola High School, Hock played four years of soccer, basketball and lacrosse and was captain in all three sports. She earned All-County honors in lacrosse twice. In soccer, she was named All-County, scholar-athlete and was honored with the Sue Link Memorial Award. In basketball, she was named All-Conference twice and was named All-Division, in basketball. Hock was also vice-president of the Honor Society and the student government.
