What is Verizon up to in our community?
Over the past month or two, I have noticed very large green boxes popping up everywhere. These certainly do not seem temporary. In fact, they look like monstrous electrical utility boxes and they are taking up the space between the street and the sidewalk.
I know that they are from Verizon because I have seen the Verizon trucks and Verizon workers around the boxes. The reason I am writing is that I cannot believe that Verizon is allowed to be putting these in without some approval from the village, town or the county - or whoever gives approval. Quite frankly, these eyesores are making our villages look very much like city streets. So many of us live on Long Island to get away from this kind of thing.
Please see if your newspaper can write about this and tell us, your readers, what can be done to stop Verizon from ruining more streets.
Boxes can be found at the following locations:
East Williston - Roslyn Rd. and Ward St.
Williston Park - Willis Ave. and Prospect St.
Mineola - Jericho and Nassau Blvd. and Roslyn Rd. and Windsor Ave.
Garden City - six boxes along the fence to the park at Herricks Rd. and Wilson Blvd.
