Village Discovers Unwarranted Bills for Garbage Dumping
Mineola Mayor Jack M. Martins and village officials discovered that the village was paying bills for dumping of garbage collected by a private company and is now expected to file a lawsuit this week in Nassau County Supreme Court in an attempt to recuperate taxpayer money.

Police report that the nativity put out by the Knights of Columbus Corpus Christi Council #2502 on Jericho Turnpike across from the Knights of Columbus hall was vandalized Tuesday night after a 38-year-old man punched in the plexiglass protecting the nativity and, according to police, threw four cement figures, worth approximately $2,300, onto the turnpike causing damage to each.
