Remembering Ann Galante
Ann M. Galante, former mayor of Mineola and receiver of taxes of the Town of North Hempstead, passed away in the early morning hours of Nov. 30, 2004 at Winthrop-University Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
In Tribute to Ann M. Galante
"Ann has been an inspiration to women who might have felt they would like to be involved in government but are afraid to try. I was one of those women but she gave me the confidence and I spent eight productive years serving my community." - Former Village Trustee Elizabeth A.J. Conlon.
CYO Basketball Clinic Is Under Way
As the Corpus Christi CYO basketball clinic for kindergarten through third grade boys and girls gets under way there is lots to report. The clinic, which runs from November through January on Saturday mornings from 8:30 to 12:30 at Corpus Christi School Gym, has been in full swing. The coaches who give up their early Saturday morning really enjoy teaching these young boys and girls the fundamentals of basketball. The sessions consisting of approximately 40 children are broken up into four different groups of kindergarten boys and girls, first grade boys and girls, second grade and third grade boys and second and third grade girls. With more than 120 boys and girls in the program one would think that it could be quite confusing, but with this many children, organization is extremely important to us.
