The latest offering from the talented youngsters in the Mineola High School Thespian Troupe is a comedy classic. Tony Kirby is in love with Alice Sycamore, but when he brings his parents to dinner at the Sycamore home on the wrong evening, it looks like his blooming romance might be in jeopardy. Though the Sycamores seem crazy at first, it's not long before we learn that if they are crazy, the rest of the world is even crazier.
"If you are looking for a comedy, then You Can't Take It With You should be at the top of your list," says District Supervisor of Fine Arts Rob Ratner. And it's not just the audience who benefits from the show. "What theater does for students is truly remarkable," Ratner explains. "What our young actors give and receive from their performances completes a circle of learning that will benefit them tremendously."
Opening night is Friday, Nov. 19, and the curtain goes up at 8 p.m. Subsequent performances are Saturday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $5 in advance, $6 at the door. Senior citizens and children 12 and under pay $4. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Office of Fine and Performing Arts at the high school. Please call (516) 237-2625 for more information.
