Town of Hempstead Honors Mineola's Own Marty Dawber
Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray honored local volunteer firefighters at a special ceremony on October 13. The 10 individuals were honored for their courage and dedication to protecting local communities. In addition, three individuals were recognized for rescuing a family from a burning house.

Monuments Vandalized at Memorial Park
There was damage done to the lights surrounding both the Veterans Monument and 9/11 Monument at Mineola Memorial Park on Thursday, Oct. 28. Lights located on the perimeter of the monuments that provide light around the entire areas were smashed.

The Mineola Chief's 7-year-old's went and played on the road again this past week as they beat the Inwood Buccaneers 13-6, to continue their winning ways for a record of 4-1-1.

Mineola Mustangs Have Two Conference Champs
It has been a successful fall sports season for the Mineola Mustangs as both the girls volleyball and soccer team won their respective conferences; the boys soccer team clinched a playoff berth and, prior to a Friday night game against Cold Spring Harbor, the football team stood on the brink of another playoff berth.
