Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray honored local volunteer firefighters at a special ceremony on October 13. The 10 individuals were honored for their courage and dedication to protecting local communities. In addition, three individuals were recognized for rescuing a family from a burning house. There was damage done to the lights surrounding both the Veterans Monument and 9/11 Monument at Mineola Memorial Park on Thursday, Oct. 28. Lights located on the perimeter of the monuments that provide light around the entire areas were smashed. FULL STORY

It has been a successful fall sports season for the Mineola Mustangs as both the girls volleyball and soccer team won their respective conferences; the boys soccer team clinched a playoff berth and, prior to a Friday night game against Cold Spring Harbor, the football team stood on the brink of another playoff berth.
