The Mineola girls varsity volleyball team has had quite a season so far. The Lady Mustangs have rolled toward a conference championship. With just one match remaining, Mineola had won 12 matches and lost but two.

Mineola started the season by defeating Floral Park in three games. Nicole Lapin had 47 assists while Michele Guido had nine kills. That was followed by a three-game win over Clarke behind Liz Campbell's eight kills.

North Shore handed Mineola its first loss of the season in five games, including 26-24 in the final game. But the Mustangs bounced right back and put together a string of nine straight wins. In a five-game win over Hewlett, Jill Shanahan notched 17 service points, including three aces. Then, in a five-game win over Cold Spring Harbor, Michele Guido hammered home

19 kills while Nicole Lapin had five aces.

Next was a five-game win over East Rockaway behind Juliet Barber and Guido, who each had seven kills.

Campbell rolled-up 19 kills and Lapin added 31 assists in a four-game victory over Syosset.

Campbell and Guido combined for 22 kills as Mineola defeated Mepham in five games. Campbell also had five blocks.

Then, in a four-game victory over Calhoun, Mineola was led by Guido's 16 kills and 15 from Campbell.

The Mustangs got some payback when they defeated North Shore in four games, avenging their only loss to that point. Guido led the way with 14 kills while Kaitlyn O'Neal added nine kills.

Then, the Mustangs defeated East Meadow in three games. Guido again led the way with 13 kills. In a three-game victory over Floral Park, Lapin had 21 assists.

Mineola saw it's win streak come to an end in a five-game defeat at the hands of Seaford. But, the ladies bounced back again with a victory over Clarke in four games. Campbell had 15 kills and O'Neal accounted for 30 service points, which included eight aces.

Mineola, at press time, had just one home match against Hewlett remaining before the playoffs begin.
