Mineola Mustang Run/Walk committee presents a check for $3,750 to the Mineola Police Athletic League (PAL) to be used for improving the sports programs for the hundreds of young adults and children who participate in the PAL's many programs.

The next meeting of the Mineola Mustang Run/Walk Committee will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mineola Village Hall/Community Center, located on Washington Ave., Mineola. All persons (whether a runner or not) are welcome. Volunteers are needed to help with the many activities that are planned for this year's event which will be held on Sunday, Nov. 21. The mile will go off at 9 a.m. and the 3.1 mile will be held at 10 a.m.

This year is a special event because its marks the 20th year for this event which has raised over $200,000 for the community since its existence. The money for this year's event will be donated to the Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Mineola Athletic Association, Mineola Police Athletic League, Mineola Auxiliary Police, Mineola Fire Department (Life Saving Equipment), Mineola Historical Society, Mienola Youth and Family Services, Cancer Center for Kids at Winthrop University Hospital and PACE (Parent and Child Education).
