Bicycle riding is good for you. At least it seems to agree with Bill and Florence Schlageter of East Williston. I'm sure you must have spotted them riding their bikes through Mineola, for the past 30 years. They ride six days a week covering a huge area. They range as far north as Bar Beach, east to Hicksville and west to Floral Park. The next time we are in Greenport we wouldn't be surprised to see them going down Front St. or on the paths at Orient State Park.

Many of my friends, especially Met fans, miss the old Brooklyn Dodgers and the NY Giants. This made me think of all the other teams which have long gone like the St. Louis Browns, the Washington Senators and Boston Bees. And in hockey the NY Americans and the Montreal Maroons. Football had the Cleveland Rams and the Washington Redskins.

The Mineola Lube station at the corner of Jericho Tpke. and Mineola Blvd. has one sign advertising gas for 89 cents a gal. and another for $6.89 a gal. Of course they don't sell gas anymore as all their pumps are blocked off. Maybe they should try "stand up comedy" routines.
