Thaddeus W. (Teddy) Nowakowski, of Mineola, died on Aug. 1, 2004. He was a 57-year member of the Mineola Fire Dept. A WWII veteran, he was a former chaplain of the Mineola units of the American Legion and the VFW. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, Bishop Kellenberg Council. He was among the original Eucharistic Ministers of Corpus Christi RC Church and served as a hospital minister at Winthrop Hospital. He was an ironworkeer with Local 580 for 28 years and an employee of the Mineola School District for 19 years. Joe distributed "God Bless You" bookmarks to anyone who would receive them. He will be sorely missed. Husband for 55 years of Arline (nee Robilliard). Father of Mary Teresa, Jeanne Carroll (Jerome) and Margaret Smith (William).
