The box installed on Foch Boulevard and Chestnut Place is an eyesore for the residents of the home in front of which it was installed.

The unhappy resident called the village. Mayor Jack M. Martins was also miffed when informed that the boxes were placed around the village.
It is believed by the village that the boxes were installed by Verizon and are used as power boosters for Verizon's DSL lines.
Mayor Martins said on Friday that there were at least three other known locations in the village where the boxes were installed including 340 Hausner Place.
The residents of 337 Foch Boulevard expressed concern since the box, located right in front of the main entrance of their home, is an eyesore. Also, the residents have young children and wonder if the box can pose any danger.
The box, which looks like a refrigerator, is only a few feet from the ground and has a loop of wire attached to the box with a plug. The plug can easily by accessed by a small child. Also, there appears to be no protection from a vehicle that could jump the curb and hit the box.
The site has no sidewalk. However, the house next door does have a sidewalk. If the sidewalk were to continue onto the 337 Foch Boulevard property, the box would be eight to 10 inches over the sidewalk, putting it in the right-of-way, according to the village.
The box on Hausner is higher up on the utility pole and a walking platform has been built around it.
There was also another box mounted to the ground on Banbury Road.
When Mayor Martins learned of the boxes being installed in the village, he was not happy. He questioned whether Verizon has the right to install the boxes in the village without permission.
Mayor Martins is having Verizon served with summonses.
