Mineola Says "Thank You" to Student Volunteers
For 20 years, the student volunteers in the Mineola High School Student Service Center (SSC) have worked to make their community a better place. At the end of each school year, the community takes a moment to say "thank you." At the 20th Annual SSC Recognition Awards Breakfast, hundreds of students were recognized for their countless hours of service to the center's better than 15 community outreach programs, which involve work with senior citizens, local charities, character education, and more.

Construction to Begin on Intermodal Center in 2005
It is estimated that construction on the new Intermodal transportation center in Mineola will begin in March 2005 and be completed in September 2006. The Intermodal Center is a four story parking garage and bus depot that will be built in the parking lot of the Keyspan Building, located at 242/250 Old Country Road in Mineola.

Congratulations to Katherine Hock
The Adelphi University Panthers came from behind to defeat West Chester University 12-11 on May 15 to claim the school's first ever NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championships. Leading the Panthers was Mineola's own Katherine Hock, who scored six goals in the second half including the game winner with 1:29 left.

Mineola Middle School 7th/8th Grade Lacrosse News
The Mineola Middle School lacrosse team opened the 2004 season with a thrilling 7 - 6 road victory over conference powerhouse Cold Spring Harbor. Seven different players scored for Mineola. The Mustangs got the early jump in this one as co-Captains Carlos Barros and Michael Reis scored within the game's first two minutes. Both goals were unassisted and Barros' was with an extra man.
