Mayor Appoints Committee to Study Police
A committee has been appointed by Mayor Jack M. Martins to study the feasibility of the Village of Mineola having its own police force. The committee is made up of residents of the village who will eventually make a recommendation to the board of trustees about whether to pursue having a village police cover Mineola as opposed to the Nassau County Police 3rd Precinct.

Mustang Baseball Team Clinches Conference Championship
The Mineola Mustang varsity baseball team clinched a conference championship by beating Roosevelt on Thursday, 14-1. For coach Helms Bohringer the important win was his 100th as varsity baseball coach of Mineola. The team presented the coach with a gift and a celebratory ice bath to further commemorate the occasion. The Mustangs began the playoffs on Saturday at Division High School.

The Mineola High School girls varsity lacrosse team did something that few sports teams ever accomplish. The Lady Laxers completed the regular season with a perfect record.
