The Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps (MVAC) has celebrated its silver anniversary, but it's an organization that has been worth gold to the public. At a celebration at the New Hyde Park Inn on Saturday, members of the MVAC celebrated 25 years by providing valuable service to the public by providing emergency medical attention in the most dire of needs.

Village Budget Comes With 'Pressures'
The Village of Mineola Mayor and Board of Trustees held the annual budget hearing on Wednesday as residents were allowed to question the tentative village budget for the 2004-2005 fiscal year, which begins June 1 and ends May 31, 2005. The village must have a budget passed by May 31 and the hearing is part of the process. There are several factors that the mayor and board have had to deal with in putting together the budget, which are not within the village's control.

Harrison Performs Among the Stars
Mineola High School senior basketball guard Jerelle Harrison is continuing to make his way in the highly competitive world of New York City area high school basketball. Harrison was selected to play in the second annual Big Apple Basketball Showcase, an event that featured the top 40 New York City Metro basketball players at the high school expo scholarship games at Baruch College on April 17.
