Catherine O'Brien, of Mineola, died on March 18, 2004. She was an oncology clinical nurse at Visiting Nurse Service, Queens. Wife of the late Thomas. Mother of Thomas, Catherine, Nancy and Veronica. Grandmother of Brittany, Caitlin, Dakota, Sullivan, Kira and Erin. Sister of Margaret Berger and Ann McParland. Arrangements were made by the Cassidy Funeral Home, Mineola. Funeral Mass at St. Aidan's RC Church.
Lois Catherine Bleimann (Meier) passed peacefully on March 21, 2004. She was the daughter of John D. Meier of Arcadia, WI, and Otella Haugae of Minot, ND. She was raised in Linton, ND, and graduated Jamestown College in Jamestown, ND. During the early years of WWII she learned to fly, served as the editor of the weekly newspaper, The Jamestown Sun, and then volunteered for the American Red Cross in Austria and France.
Lois was a distinguished organist as the United Methodist Church in Elmont. For 12 years she was the beloved children's librarian for the Mineola Public Library where her love of reading was a guiding influence on many youngsters. After retiring to Scottsdale, AZ, she continued her organ work at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church in Carefree, AZ, and local events. She was also a member of the Pinnacle Peak Country Club in Scottsdale.
Her husband, Julius Leslie Bleimann of 44 years, died in 1990. She leaves her sister, Laurel (Oscar) Sorlie (Meier); son, Robert Leslie (May) Bleimann of Arlington, VA; son, Kim Davis Bleimann of New York, NY; and daughter, Julie Ann Otella (Glen) Rodolico (Bleimann) of Glendale, AZ; and grandchildren, Gillian Davis Bleimann, Cashmere Rodolico, Blake Rodolico; and one great-grandchild, Domonic Rodolico.
Arrangements were made by the Heritage Funeral Chapel. Memorial service at Palmcroft Baptist Church, Phoenix, AZ, with Pastor Neil Bowan presiding. Graveside service at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
