The Hometown Party was the winner of the village election as Trustee Linda Fairgrieve was re-elected for another two years and Paul Cusato was elected, giving the Hometown Party two members on the board of trustees.

School Budget Maintains Current Program
When the proposed 2003-2004 Mineola School District budget failed twice last year, the district wasn't greatly impacted since there wasn't much of a difference between the proposed budget and the contingency budget, which the board of education ended up adopting.

Wheatley Girls Basketball Receives State Honors
The Wheatley School's Varsity Girls Basketball team has been recognized by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) for academic excellence. The Scholar/Athlete Recognition Award Program, which was initiated by NYSPHSAA 13 years ago, recognizes athletic teams from across New York state for the exemplary academic performance of its team members. Based upon a composite of the grade point averages among team members, team champions are selected for each varsity sport for those high schools entering the competition.
