Reggie Carter Night, held at Mineola High School on Friday, Jan. 30, featured a three-game sweep by the Mustangs as the girls varsity basketball team beat Clarke High School in overtime 52-50 and the junior varsity and varsity basketball teams defeated Valley Stream North.

Reggie Carter Night has become an annual event in memory of the late assistant principal who passed away suddenly during the winter of 1999.

Many in attendance hold fond memories of Mr. Carter. This year's Reggie Carter award recipient was Danny Medlock, who wore uniform number 35, the number Carter wore in his days as a player for St. John's University and the New York Knicks, in Mr. Carter's honor.

The stands were packed for the occasion and all of the money raised at the door and through a 50-50 raffle was put toward the Reggie Carter Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to one student at the end of the school year.

The Mineola Athletic, Physical Education and Health Department thanks Vinnie and Lisa Carnabucci for running the 50-50 raffle and all of those who came out to remember a special educator and person.
