  • Sports: Corpus Christi CYO Basketball Clinic in Full Swing

As the Corpus Christi CYO Basketball clinic for kindergarten through third grade boys and girls passes its halfway point there is lots to report. The clinic, which runs from November through January on Saturday mornings from 8:30 to 12:30 at Corpus Christi School Gym, has been in full swing. The coaches who give up their early Saturday morning, really enjoy teaching these young boys and girls the fundamentals of basketball. The sessions are broken up into kindergarten - first grade boys, kindergarten - first grade girls, second to third grade boys and second to third grade girls. With over 100 boys and girls in the program one would think that it could be quite confusing, but on the contrary with this many children, organization is extremely important to us. The beginning of each session is basically for stretching and exercise, after that is completed the gym is broken up into four quadrants with a coach assigned to each quadrant, teaching any of basketball fundamentals such as dribbling, passing, shooting and rebounding with different variations each week. The coaches are Mike Fragiacomo, Keith Gessner, Mike Falotico, Sean O'Conner, Mark Venus, Tommy Rudolph, Mike Murphy and John Browne, as well as many willing parents who come down to assist. Anyone interested in coming down and watching should feel free to any Saturday morning and feel free to bring the coaches their Saturday morning coffee. FULL STORY
