With the holiday shopping season upon us, I would like to take this opportunity to remind our residents to be vigilant regarding personal and home safety.
Our offices are on constant watch for criminal activity but often times the watchful eyes of neighbors are our first line of defense in preventing crime. If you observe something that appears to be suspicious, please don't hesitate to call 911 and notify the police. Oftentimes a description from a neighbor is just the information we need to solve a case.
In addition, if you are out shopping, please be aware to keep an eye on your personal property. Try to avoid leaving pocketbooks in shopping carts or hanging from strollers, as these are prime targets for thieves. If you need to leave property in your auto secure it in the trunk, items left in plain sight encourage break-ins.
Best wishes for a safe holiday season.
