Vera and Lou Stalano of Emory Road have lived in Mineola for 61 years. They have been married for 54 years. Lou is a retired accountant and Vera was a research specialist. They originally came from Ridgewood.

Former Mayor Stan Krause is now 93 years old. He served on the village board for 23 years as a trustee from 1952 to 1959 and as mayor from 1959 to 1975. When he left office he vowed never to be involved in politics again and he never has. When he was young he attended a dance at a Catholic church in Jamaica where he met my now next door neighbor Blanche Paris and her late husband George. By the way, Blanche celebrated her 99th birthday Oct. 6.

Joe and Marge Wood of Jackson Avenue visited Las Vegas for five days then Chicago for four days and finished their trip with two days in New Jersey. Both Joe and Marge are EM's at Corpus Christi Church.

Julia and Pat McCrave of Brown Street have been married for 56 years marking the happy day on Oct. 4. They have lived their entire married life in Mineola.

Phyliss Alfiere is a very faithful worker at TK's Gifts on Jericho Turnpike. She arrives at work at 5:50 a.m. six days a week ready to sell you a newspaper or a Lotto ticket. The store belongs to Tom Cooke of Columbus Parkway.

Although severely handicapped, Jim Bruno gets around real well on his electric scooter. In fact, he is even able to bowl and when I met him he was headed for Sheridan Bowl. Jim and his wife of 48 years, Doris, live on E. Washington Avenue.

Former Mineola village clerk and treasurer Lou DiDomenico enjoyed dinner at Eleanor Rigby's. Lou now holds the same position in the Village of Kings Point.
