Lauren Niewender of Williston Park is a key player for the Rider University Women's Volleyball team. The 6-1, senior middle hitter finished first on the team in blocking and second on the team in games played and service aces and third on the team in kills.

She compiled a career-high 19 kills in Rider's win against St. Francis-NY and set a career high with 19 digs against Wofford. She has seven "double-digit" kill matches and eight "double-dig" matches in her career.

At Mineola High School, Niewander was a four-year varsity letter winner in volleyball, three-year team captain, three-time team MVP and received All-County and All-Conference honors.

Niewender is majoring in secondary education.
