Village to Hold Hearing Wednesday on Architectural Review
The Village of Mineola will hold a hearing on Wednesday, July 16 on its Architectural Review Law at 6:30 p.m. at village hall, 155 Washington Avenue. The purpose of the hearing is to get input from the public for the purposes of possibly making revisions to the law.

Attorney Committee Holds First Meeting
A committee commissioned by Mineola Mayor Jack M. Martins to study the cost effectiveness of hiring an in-house village attorney met for the first time. The committee has the difficult task of issuing a report to the village board as to whether it would save the village money to have a full-time attorney rather than longtime village attorney John Spellman.

Barnwell Caps Off Successful Season, but Chromium Wins Title
Barnwell should be proud of the year all 12 of their players had. Playing Nassau Chromium for the championship would not be easy. Nassau did not lose a game all year. The two played twice before and Nassau came out on top 2-0 and 3-2, which was in round three of the playoffs.

Mineola Shooting Stars' Notes
Just when you thought that the passing of March, with its cold temperatures, gusty winds, and even snow was behind us, April, May and June had their own weather surprises for us. The snows of March gave way to below average temperatures in April and May and rain, rain, and more rain, in June. Despite the unusual weather, the play of the Mineola Shooting Stars showed no adverse effects. As their final record would indicate, their sights were set on finishing in first place.
