In these days when people are burning the flag, I saw something that tells us we still have great Americans in this country.

From my kitchen window, I can see Jericho Turnpike. I saw an American flag that was hanging and about to fall from a utility pole. It was that way a few weeks. I'm ashamed that I didn't call the village to have it fixed. I kept putting it off.

I then noticed a man take what looked like crates, stack them up and climb to the flag. He anchored it, climbed down and then saluted the flag. He picked up his crates and disappeared into Entenmann's. I don't know who he is, but he made me proud to be an American.

With Memorial Day here, I think this deed deserves to be noted.
