Winter Sports Honors

The winter sports season in high school athletics are the longest. The months of practice, games, matches and meets in cold gymnasiums and overheated wrestling rooms seem, at times, never-ending. The payoff or satisfaction comes for the teenage athletes with championships and being honored for what they accomplished. Mineola High School's six winter sports teams garnered their share of post season honors this year. A total of 37 different student-athletes earned honors of one kind or another this winter.

The second-year indoor track and field team exploded on the scene. The girls squad even won its conference championship, while the boys squad made its presence felt as well. A total of 16 members of the track and field contingent earned postseason honors. The breakdown is as follows:
