Help Us to Help You
Most of us have been told since we were young to call 911 in the event of emergency. That still is the number to call when you need the police.
For fire and medical emergencies in Nassau County please call 742-3300.
If at the time of emergency you cannot remember this number call 911. Time is critical in all emergencies and the visibility of your address from the street is important.
Section 505.1 of the New York State Fire Code discusses "Premises Identification" and it states as follows: "New and existing buildings shall have approved address numbers, building numbers, or approved building identification placed in a position to be plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property. These numbers shall contrast with their background. Address numbers shall be Arabic numbers or alphabet letters. Numbers shall be a minimum of 4 inches high with a minimum stroke width of 0.5 inch."
