Cancer is a devastating disease that affects the spirit as well as the body, at times it leaves one exhausted and unable to cope. However, research has shown that those who have access to support services deal better with the stress of this illness. In an effort to help women who are battling cancer, Winthrop-University Hospital's Women's Health Services is offering a free Cancer Support Group scheduled for six consecutive Tuesdays
Jan. 28, Feb. 4, 11, 18, 25, and March 4. Sessions will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Winthrop's Pediatric Conference Room, 259 First Street in Mineola.

The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County, in conjunction with various State and County Agencies as well as Fire Island National Seashore will hold on Jan. 25, Feb. 15, March 1 and 15 classes that introduce participants to Long Island's diverse plant and animal species.
The program is offered in the winter, spring ,summer and fall with on going training for each session. A special discount is available to those who participate in all four of these sessions.

Roy F. Sullivan, Phd. audiologist, will discuss the different types of hearing loss and how it can affect family relations and explain the latest advances in technology.
Registration and blood pressure checks start at 1:15 and the program will start at 1:45 p.m.
This session of the Master Bird Training Program starts on Jan. 26 and continues on Feb. 9, 16 and March 2.
You will participate in classes and labs on topics such as bird origins, avian anatomy and physiology, behavior, communication, migration and navigation.
