  • News: Colbert and Santosus Announce Candidacy

    Nearly a week after Larry Speciner announced his candidacy for the Hometown Party in the March 18 Village of Mineola election, Mayor John P. Colbert and Deputy Mayor Lou Santosus announced their candidacy. Colbert and Santosus will run as Village Party candidates with Colbert running for mayor and Santosus running for trustee.     Having selected the team and practiced for two weeks, the time was right for Coach Zunno to expose the team, especially the first time varsity players, to varsity level competition. With no lack of butterflies and nervousness, the Lady Mustangs opened their 2002/03 season in the Great Neck South Tournament. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Mineola Mustangs Sports News

    The Mineola Girls Varsity Bowling Team had amassed a record of 5 wins and 4 losses through Jan. 16. The season opened with a loss to Garden City 537-481, 525-558, 522-555, although Jennifer Pirrone bowled a 446 series for Mineola, including a 181 game. The Lady Mustangs notched their first win of the season over North Shore 515-539, 628-503, 651-509 as Jennifer Boyle bowled a 179 in the third game of her 472 series. Mineola next defeated Sewanhaka 603-529, 581-565, 686-560 on a day that Pirrone rang-up a 578 series, including a 205 in her first game. Mineola next defeated Great Neck South 628-441, 601-425, 534-535. Jenn Pirrone was again hot. She bowled a 192 in the first game and completed the day with a 543 series. Mineola and Carle Place then split a two-day, home-and-home series. The frogs prevailed on day one 486-584, 639-498, 601-600 behind Michelle Klein's 599 series. The Mustangs earned the spllit on day two 555-547, 622-536, 620-600. Jennifer Pirrone bowled a 194 second game and a 503 series. FULL STORY
