It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon with a face-off between the Chiefs led by John Sullivan Sr. and the Lightning lead by the infamous Don Guy of the 10 and 11-year-old Bantam Division. In the first period the Chiefs took an early blow while the Lightning celebrated their first goal of the game. The Tribe wasn't having that and came back with one of their own by Center Matt Goodrich. With great offensive playing by Justin D'Angelo, Peter Granath, Keith Williams and Richard Bohan, the Chiefs were able to keep the puck flowing smoothly. Near the end of the 1st, Joseph Calabro of the Chiefs gave his teammates a 3-2 lead with a strong wrist shot. Under a stunning red sky the 2nd period began and the Chiefs defense came alive with Vinny Ruggiero, Billy Gerstner and Bob Port keeping the puck away from their goalie Jimmy Georges. After Calabro's 2nd goal of the night, the Redskins ended the middle period up 4-3. As the lights were turned on for the 3rd period, the rest of the Chiefs came on like thunder with goals by John Sullivan and Nick Ricciardi and two more by Goodrich. With excitement and speed by Chris Grunert and Andrew Seader and outstanding hustle by Brian Ernenwein, all lead to a Chiefs 8-3 victory.
