The Mineola High School fall athletic teams did themselves proud when it came time for being rewarded for their stellar efforts. A total of 23 athletes were honored by opposing coaches. The varsity football team, which went all the way to the Nassau County Conference IV Championship Game, reaped the most rewards. Rich Medlock, Jim Holubowich and Mike Antoniou were voted All-County honors. Dan Medlock, Dan Mehra and Adam Minsky received All-Conference awards. In addition, Antoniou, Mehra and Minsky were also named academic scholar athletes and George Harrison was named the National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete.
Mineola's boy's varsity conference championship soccer team also came away with five awards. Jason Moston and Rui Ribeiro were named All-County while George Barros, Fabio De Oliveira and Greg Weiss were named All-Conference.
The Mustang girls varsity soccer team has three players receive post season honors. Joanna Canning was picked All Class B, while Melissa Hock was an All-Conference selection and Theresa Dolan was volleyball team also received four awards. Christine McPartlan was picked as All-County Honorable Mention. Juliet Barber, Michelle Guido and Allyson Strein were accorded All-Conference awards.
Supervisor of health, physical education and athletics Ralph Amitrano said, "These fine young people deserved everything they received. They represented Mineola High School very well and we are very proud of them."
