When there are two or more inches of snow on the road all motor vehicles must be removed from village streets. This permits the plow crews to clear the streets of snow from curb to curb.
To give the residents a better idea of how to know when the crews have completed plowing and it is appropriate to open driveway aprons and/or sidewalks, please note the following:
1. In order not to waste time or effort, residents should not remove snow from their driveway aprons until they see that the snow removal crews are sanding/salting the plowed streets. Once snow plowing has been completed, the Highway crews must sand/salt to prevent the development of ice on the street. Once the crews are sanding/salting there is little risk of being plowed in.
2. If a resident feels that it is necessary to shovel their driveway apron prior to the completion of plowing operations, vehicles should not be parked on the driveway apron and into the street.
3. Vehicles that are parked half on the apron and half in the street prevent the plows from completing their work. In addition, there is also a risk of having damage caused to a vehicle either by the moving snow or the plow.
4. Do not shovel or blow snow into the street. Snow should be placed on the grass areas.
