ADHD refers to a group of chronic symptoms that can cause difficulties for children in school and at home, as they find it difficult to focus on a task or feel restless and fidgety. However, there are controversies surrounding the diagnosis. To learn more about these issues, the public is invited to attend a free Parenting Today lecture at Winthrop-University Hospital, "Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Real or Perceived?" on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Attendees are asked to arrive at 6:45 p.m. for the 7 p.m. lecture, at the Winthrop Community Outreach Center, 101 Mineola Boulevard, at the corner of Second Street in Mineola, and to park in the rear of the building. Reservations can be made by calling 1-877-559-KIDS.
