Looking to carry the momentum built in their dominating win over the Bethpage Bobcats, the Mineola Shooting Stars faced the Garden City Park Spurs at the Harbor Links Sports Complex. On this cool and clear day, Mineola very quickly realized that they faced two formidable opponents, the brisk wind in their faces and the Spurs themselves. The Spurs took advantage of the wind and worked it to their advantage with long, wind-aided kicks. This allowed Spur forwards to wait at just on-side and try to outrun the defense to the ball. Much to their credit, Mineola's defensive unit and goalie Nicole Peralta repeatedly turned the Spurs back. However, these circumstances left Mineola with very little margin for error.
