"Observations made on Oct. 9, 1945 around the railroad station found 95 cars parked on, or adjacent to, railroad property on the north side of the tracks and 69 on the south side, or at total of 164 cars representing obvious commuter parking. As some commuters undoubtedly parked further away the station and the proportion driving to the station will increase, the future demand for the type of parking will greatly exceed these figures, perhaps by 100 percent. The average number of railroad commuters using Mineola Railroad Station per month in 1945 was 1,223 with a maximum of 1,350 in the month of October."
