The former Mineola Minors travel baseball team has now moved up to the majors and faced a tough opponent in Massapequa. The largely 10- and 11-year-old squad has been "playing up" and having a rough time of it against 11 and 12-year-olds, but they may have turned a corner when they beat Massapequa soundly on their own field.

On a team stacked with talent, Mineola pitchers Matthew Manteria, Jack Clarke and Joseph Wellbrock held Massapequa to five runs in five innings. Their teammates Joseph Calabro, John Sullivan, JohnCarlo Clancy and Thomas McKeever helped out on offense with two hits each! More hits by Clarke, Manteria, Dennis Clark and Wellbrock ran the score to 10-5 when flame-thrower Clancy came in to pitch the sixth. Clancy closed the door on Massapequa allowing one more run, while striking out three batters for a final Mineola 10, Massapequa 6.
