In an effort to promote a partnership between the Mineola School and parents of students, the school district has set up Parent University, a series of seminars in which parents and faculty and/or member of the administration can interact to exchange information that will ultimately benefit the students. The first seminar is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 7-9 p.m. in the Mineola High School Library.
The format will include an opportunity to ask questions and meet in groups to receive specific information relative to the elementary, middle and high school population. The sessions will included an understanding of the New York State standards for education and the corresponding state and district assessments in the areas of English Language Arts, Math, Science, Technology, Social Studies, Career Development and Occupational Studies, the Arts, Health, Physical Education and Family and Consumer Sciences as well as languages other than English.
The first session will focus on an overview of the Mineola Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Plan as well as an introduction to the New York State Learning Standards.
If you have any questions, contact Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Dominic Mucci at 741-1009.
