State Comptroller Audits Village
The New York State Comptroller's office audited the Village of Mineola for the period of June 1, 2000 to December 31, 2001 in order to test for significant instances of non-compliance with fiscally related laws, rules and regulations. The audit attempted to address whether the village has adequate policies and procedures related to purchasing practices and whether the village had adequate policies and procedures to ensure that claim vouchers were processed properly.

As if Nassau County didn't have enough financial problems, a downswing in the nation's economy could mean County Executive Thomas Suozzi has to implement further ways to close budget deficits that were not part of his four-year financial plan.
Mustangs Aim for Strong Season
The Mineola High School varsity football team returns with experience and strength. Veteran head coach Dan Guido says, "We expect to make the playoffs. We have good overall team strength and athletic ability. We are also a smart team." Mineola was a New York State All-Academic team in 2001, and most of those players are back for another year. Once again this season, Coach Guido has experience among his chief assistant coaches in Helms Bohringer and John Tortora. The coaches have watched this group of players improve with each season, and now the squad is excellent blend of seniors and juniors. Mineola Runners, Walkers and Wheelchair Racers Invited to 4 Mile Run
Runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes of all ages and levels of ability from Mineola and other nearby communities are invited to sign up for the third annual "Fly with the ANGELS" 4 Mile Run, on Saturday, Oct. 12, which this year will for the first time be held in the friendly confines of Eisenhower Park.
