A mature colony of yellow jackets may have 2000-6000 cells and 1000-4000 workers. The summer is the time when these insects and many of the other stinging pests are gathering food and increasing their colony size.
You can help avoid attracting stinging insects and reduce your risk of being stung by not leaving partial cans of soda around outside nor wearing strong floral scented perfumes or colognes outdoors.
