After losing a tough game against Floral Park Monday night the Mineola Minors Travel team came right back and overpowered a feisty team in Manhasset Wednesday. With excellent pitching from Tom McKeever, Anthony Fabrico and JohnCarlo Clancy the Mineola squad kept the game within reach as they faced some very determined hitters.

Batting for Mineola, leadoff man Nicky Franzini singled once, walked once and homered in the fourth inning to liven things up. Brendan Maloney also singled in the first and drove in two runs. Joe Calabro, Tom McKeever and Matt Manteria each had two hits while JohnCarlo Clancy helped his own cause going four for four at the plate.

Walks to Anthony Fabrico, James Pastoressa, Billy Sullivan and Mike Castellana put more runs on the board for Mineola especially when Matt Clancy clubbed a double in the third inning. Castellana also grabbed a long fly ball in right to help stave off a late rally by Manhasset.

McKeever walked in the sixth and after being moved to third on hits from Manteria and Clancy, stole home on a wild pitch. At this point the see-saw slugfest favored Mineola. Clancy held down Manhasset in the last two innings for a final score of Mineola 14, Manhasset 10, and the travel team record is now 7 wins 1 loss.
