There will be no eating at the Mineola Pool. A 75-name petition was presented requesting that eating be allowed in a designated area. It was pointed out that this had been tried for four years without success. People left trash and garbage strewn all over the area in spite of nearby trash receptacles. The attendants constantly cleaned the area only to see it in a messy condition shortly thereafter. It was reported that the vast membership of 5,500 like the pool neat and clean as it is now. Previously, bees, ants and mice plagued the pool. Don Kopetic, pool manager, and Kyle Teemsma received high commendations from the village board for the way they have run the pool this summer. Among those attending the last pool board meeting were Maureen Padovano, Anne Maloney, Sandra Grieco, Claryce Kohl and Mary Carr-Fragiacomo.

Our summer visitors, the family of seven geese, are back at Memorial Park. This one family adds a good country touch to our park. More than seven, however, created a problem with their droppings.
