On Monday, Aug. 5, at 8 p.m. the Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens

in conjunction with the Nassau County Department of Parks, will present an Irish Night of entertainment at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park.

This hotline is staffed by specialists who are trained to provide information on topics such as, stop smoking medications and stop smoking programs.

Regretfully some of our seniors lost their Enhanced Star qualification because they received a modest increase in their Social Security payments.

Senator Balboni was instrumental in the "New Star Plan" which automatically adjusts income eligibility levels based upon annual cost-of-living increases to Social Security income, effective when the tax rolls go out in 2003.

Please remember that if you are eligible for Enhanced Star you must apply with the Nassau County Department of Assessment by Dec. 31 to receive your benefit. To receive an application please call this department during business hours at 571-1500 or if you prefer you may visit their offices which are located at 240 Old Country Road in Mineola.

On Wednesday, July 31, we will have our Middle School Night at the pool. This was rescheduled because of rain. All members and their guests who are entering grades 6 through 8 are invited to join us from 8 - 10:30 p.m. for swimming and dancing. You may bring your own snacks and folding tables.

Teen Night will take place on Friday, Aug. 2, from 9 - 11:30 p.m. All members and their guests ages 13 through 17 are welcome to join us. We will provide the music, you may bring snacks and folding tables.

Registration for the Junior Olympics (held on Aug. 11) will take place now through Aug. 2 at the Staff Room on the upper deck. Please see Pool Director, Dan Kopetic or Assistant Pool Director Sue Murphy for any additional information.
