It all came down to two teams, Mineola Bike and Nassau Chromium. In the top of the first, the Bikes came to bat with four singles from Pete Granath, Joe Calabro, Bob Port and Mike Cardillo, and a couple of doubles by Dean Dombrowski and Nick Conte, that gave the Bikes an early lead of 6-0. Nassau gained 4 rounds back to make it a 6-4 game in the second inning. Then in the third, the Bike's bats came alive again with hits from Port, Dombrowski, Conte and a base-clearing double by Billy Gerstner, to make the score 10-4. Nassau tried to rally, but solid defense by Mat Clancy, Nick Fabiano, Fernando Borrego and Zac Morris held Nassau down and only giving up one run. With quick fourth and fifth innings for both teams, that brings us to the bottom sixth and Nassau's last chance. With one man on and one man out, Gerstner struck out his second, with a steal in progress. Bike's catcher Joe Calabro fired the ball to Bob Port at third base for a strike 'em out, put 'em out double play to end the Mineola Minors World Series.
