The Adult Splash Party will be held on July 13, from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at the pool. Music will be provided by DJ Steve Griffin from RPM Entertainment. All members and their guests (21 and over) are invited to join us. Please bring your own snacks and folding tables.
Registrations from Session II Swimming Lessons will take place at the pool on July 13 from noon to 2 p.m. All those that did not receive swimming lessons in the first sessions will be accommodated first. Session II begin on July 16.
The Nassau County Department of Health reports that the West Nile Virus was identified in birds located in Woodbury and Plainview.
Dr. David Ackerman, commissioner of the department of health, recently stated, "We believe the risk of infection remains quite low."
The health department suggests taking the following precautions for you and your family's protection:
* Check gutters to make sure they drain properly.
* "Kiddie pools" and other pools should be chlorinated and their covers free of stagnant water.
* Change the water in birdbaths every two to three days.
* Check screens to make sure they are in good repair.
* When outdoors, remember that mosquitoes are most active in the late afternoon from dusk to dawn.

On Wednesdays, from noon to 2 p.m. (rain or shine), there will be concerts in Eisenhower Park, Parking Fields 6 and 6A.

The Long Island Railroad has One Day Getaway trips throughout the spring, summer and fall.
On July 12, there will be a Skyline Cruise which includes:
* Guided tour of Falaise, a Norman style home
* Lunch at Louie's Oyster Bar & Grill (choices of flounder, London broil and chicken francaise)
* Narrated cruise along the Gold Coast to the Throgs Neck Bridge
The trip leaves from Mineola at 9:52 a.m. and returns at 4:33 p.m. The cost is $56 for adults.
On July 28, another One Day Getaway features a Luncheon Cruise through Port Jefferson Harbor and the Long Island Sound on the Martha Jefferson. There will be a buffet luncheon (fresh fish, pasta and beef).
The train leaves Mineola at 9:51 a.m. and returns at 5:29 p.m. The cost for adults is $55. For the One Day Getaways, the LIRR suggest your make reservations well in advance.
