Major Playoffs June 15
Mineola Chamber 1
Astoria Federa l 0
In a well-pitched game by both teams, Terry Mooney came up big, pitching a one-hitter and striking out seven.
The only run of the game came in the second inning. Mineola Chamber's John Englis hit a liner back to Astoria's pitcher Arnold Caballero, who knocked it down, good thing he got his glove up, but Johnny beat it out. Caballero pitched four strong innings for Astoria. Danny Vojivodic then forced Englis at second. Vojivodic then showed his speed once again, stealing second and third on two close plays. Joey Wellbrock catching for Astoria made two good throws, but Vojivodic just got in. He then stole home. Little did we know at that time that would be the only run of the game.
The lead stood because of Mineola Chamber's defense. Leading the way on defense was Terry Mooney who, besides pitching a great game, fielded his position. Assisted on eight plays, Daniel Fitzgerald, Vojivodic, John Sullivan, Carmine Sarno, Kris Lorusso, James Kelly and Robby Dibella all had a hand in protecting the victory.

Danny Vojivodic Pitches Mineola Chamber Into the Championship Game
In another well-pitched and good defensive game, Chamber's came out on top, 2 to 1.
Mineola Chamber's Danny Vojivodic and Daniel Fitzgerald combined to hold the hard-hitting Security's batters to just one run. Chamber's defense came through again. Leading the way on this night was shortstop Terry Mooney, who teamed up with second baseman John Englis to force four runners at second and almost turned two double plays. Carmine Sarno kept Total's would-be runners quiet on the bases. Kris Lorusso made a great running catch in right field.
Chamber scored in the first on a single by Daniel Fitzgerald, Fitzz then stole his way around for the first run. Fitzz was 2 for 2.
Total scored in the fourth to tie. Mike Fox singled and Brenden Hickey singled him home.
Chamber scored the go-ahead run in the fifth on a single by Vojivodic and he then stole his way around for a 2 to 1 lead, which proved to be the winning run. On to the next round, which is the championship game for Mineola Chambers.

Mineola Auxiliary Police vs.
Total Health Chiropractic
On a beautiful June day, Robby Clarkin, Zachary Englis, Luke Escobar, Stevie Mogavero and Matt Stephens made their little league-pitching debut for Police. Each player did well and is looking forward to next year when, in the minors, they will be pitching. Richie Forte and Frank Friacano again pitched well for Total Health.
Hitting the ball for Police on this last game was Timmy Bracco, who had two doubles down the right field line. Mogavero had a double to center. Clarkin, Escobar each were 1 for 2. Englis and Stephens were 2 for 2. Gina Valente, Josh Lopes and Mike Fernandes each fielded their position well.
Auxiliary's Manager Ted Englis would like to thank his coaches Jimmy Clarkin, Roy Stephen, Ed Escobar and Kevin Hardiman and all the moms who worked the stand. A special thanks to Robert Maloney for his time as Commissioner of the Farms.
