Mayor John P. Colbert held a meeting last week at village hall as businesses around the Mineola train station were invited to discuss any concerns with the upcoming Mineola Boulevard Bridge.

Phase I of the project is under way. The scope of the project is that the temporary, curved bridge that is currently on Mineola Boulevard will be taken down and a new, more straightened bridge will be built. However, half of the new bridge will be built first before workers begin to take the temporary bridge down since the goal during the course of the project is to have traffic flow in both directions.

Front Street between Main Street and the railroad station will be closed off and used as a staging area. The company doing the construction is the DeFoe Corporation and the engineer in charge of the project is Raymond Weixler of the New York State Department of Transportation.

According to John Luca, the contractor on Emory Road who received a summons for parking his van in his driveway, was told that his court date was canceled because the village decided not to prosecute the case.
