The Mineola Athletic Booster Club hosted the annual varsity sports dinner last week, giving the opportunity for the club and the Mineola Athletic Department to honor the varsity athletes and coaches whose dedication once again brought Mustang pride to Mineola athletics.

Those members of the Booster Club who should be recognized include: John Cloghessy, Marie Sallie, Al Anderson, Diane Anderson, Lisa Carnabuci, Mineola Director of Athletics and Physical Education Ralph Amitrano, Maura Gaffney, Gina Hahn, Sue Hock, Mike Rossi, Laura Adams, Jane Lapin, Irene Gregorious and Donna Strein.

All of the sports teams from the spring and fall season were honored and at the end of the evening, the male and female athletes of the year were recognized. The male athlete of the year was Joe Selby, an all-conference athlete in golf and all-county wrestler. The female athlete of the year was Maureen Cloghessy, an all-class member of the girls soccer team, all-division member of the girls basketball team and a co-captain and all division member of the girls softball team.
