The Village of Mineola passed a commercial vehicle law, making it unlawful to park a commercial vehicle in a residential area overnight, so that quality of life wouldn't be hurt as a result of streets and driveways being saturated with trucks that tend to be eyesores. The Village of Mineola Swimming Pool won't officially open until this weekend, but there has already been quite a splash. After reading in the Around the Town with Lou column in the Mineola American, some residents voiced their objections to the pool/recreation board's decision to stop competition between Mineola swimmers and Floral Park and Williston Park swimmers in favor of an all-intramural program.
